'Nyamuk Raksasa' Ditemukan di Sulbar

Dalam dua hari terakhir warga Desa Sumarrang, Kecamatan Campalagian, Polewali Mandar, Sulawesi Barat (Sulbar), heboh sekaligus cemas dan ketakutan karena di daerah muncul serangga aneh yang fisiknya mirip nyamuk, namun sebesar capung.

Seperti dilansir VIVAnews, Kamis 19 Januari 2012, Harli, guru SD yang tinggal di Dusun 1 Lambe Lotong, Polman, Sulawesi Barat, menjelaskan, 'nyamuk raksasa' itu muncul pada Senin 16 Januari 2012 menjelang maghrib. Saat itu puluhan warga Sumarrang bersiap melaksanakan shalat maghrib berjamaah di masjid setempat, namun saat akan mengangkat tangan untuk bertakbir, salah seorang jamaah melihat serangga aneh di samping imam.

"Jamaah tersebut lantas memukul serangga itu dengan sajadah sebanyak dua kali. Setelah binatang itu tak berdaya, saya berinisiatif mengambil binatang itu dan membawanya pulang ke rumah," imbuh Harli.

Nyamuk raksasa itu memiliki panjang tubuh 2,2 cm, panjang sayap 2,5 cm, dan panjang kaki 7 cm. Harli meyakini kalau serangga itu memang nyamuk dan bukan capung.

"Capung dan nyamuk sangat berbeda. Terutama di bagian kepala, karena binatang ini memiliki patok," imbuh Harli.

Sayang, serangga aneh yang diyakini nyamuk raksasa itu telah mati. Namun demikian, Harli tidak membuangnya, melainkan ia simpan sebagai koleksi.

"Saya simpan karena binatang ini aneh dan pertama kali muncul sejak saya lahir," imbuhnya lagi.

Hingga kini warga masih ketakutan dan berharap pemerintah maupun ilmuwan segera melakukan penelitian karena dikhawatirkan jumlah serangga aneh itu tidak hanya satu, melainkan banyak.

"Kami khawatir serangga itu berbahaya atau siapa tahu nyamuk jenis baru," ujar seorang warga.

Hingga kini pemerintah maupun ahli serangga belum turun untuk melakukan penelitian. Jika serangga yang ditemukan memang nyamuk jenis baru berukuran besar, bisa dipastikan warga Desa Sumarrang dalam bahaya besar.
